The Harteau family has been on the road with their 1990 VW Westfalia since October 2012. What started out as a family dream of being a whole year on the road it changed over the course of 5 months when they decided to continue their journey on the road with no final destination This resulted in them traveling the world and even having their 2nd daughter during their travels. The family is enjoying their road trip to the fullest and you can follow them on their website. You won’t regret it!
The Road Trip Van
The Westfalia from 1990 comes outfitted with 2 beds- the pop-top fold-out top bunk and the convertible bench seat below, as well as a 2 burner propane stove, small sink with 10 gallon internal tank and a fridge. It was first purchased in 2004, after which it changed their way of traveling forever. Six years later and a new engine and some upgrades, the Westfalia was ready to become the home on wheels during this journey. We are jealous of the results! What an amazing looking car.
Road trips give people a real sense of being one with nature and yourself. There is nothing like it and the feeling of being so vulnerable to mother nature and dependable on your vehicle makes the experience exciting yet very humbling. There are no fancy bedrooms, bathrooms or roomservices and if your are stuck in the middle of nowhere its up to you to get back on track and move forward.
Godspeed and drive on!
